To begin our creative endeavour, we took inspiration from the world around us. Here are some photos of what we found and the words they inspired:

Note: Poem inspired by Blossoms

The world is
Cold, damp, icy and bleak.
I turn away
To sleep
In the dark, sacred ground.

It is a deep sleep.
A sleep of dreams –
Filled with snatches of
Moonlight
Sunlight
An atmosphere
Steeped in rainbow hues.

Warm and gentle
Wide with space
A lightness
A softness
A blanket of calm.

I awaken and stretch
Push through the ground
To reach up high.

My branches extend
Blossoms right to the ends.

Their petals
Touches of
Centered in swirls of pink
That melt into the colour
Of new snow.

At ease and at peace
I look up
Through my crown
Only to find:

A stained-glassed
Cathedral’s window
Cut out of
The blue light of the sky.

Another image used as a writing prompt was this image of aloes.

Dry land of sticks
Singed by wind
Just the orange
Burning Aloes
Snaking up like tongues
Trying to lick the moisture
Off the wide, empty sky

We hope these images and words have made you smile - and with a little luck, write. Let us know if they did.

To grow creativity, you need to plant seeds. Our blog is a place of planting, growing, and nurturing creativity. In time, we hope to grow an Aloe Wood.

We met in Botswana, where the aloes bloom in the dry and dusty winter.  Thanks to these Aloe Woods the birds and insects survive this season.
